About The Event
Science isn’t finished until it’s communicated, but how do we bridge the gap between researchers and the general public?
How To Position Your Science In the Best Light 2019 is a half-day seminar on science communication that offers tips on how researchers and corporate communication officers can work together more effectively to reach their common goal: to attain international coverage for their scientific research.
The 2018 inaugural workshop saw over 150 corporate communication officers, scientists and journalists attend from institutes of higher learning (IHL), research institutes, government agencies and other public and private organisations.
Meet Brian Lin, director of editorial content strategy at EurekAlert!, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), to find out how he tackles common challenges in science communication and promotes scientific publications in an engaging and accurate way. Drawing on his 20-year experience as a science communicator, Brian will share his insights on what works and what doesn’t.
The workshop will cover:
The importance of storytelling Best practices in science communication Benefits and pitfalls of new media Common challenges faced in science communication How to get more traction on EurekAlert! How to better interact with the media and get recognized by international outlets … and more!
